Directions for Revenge Trapping Bait Kit for Woodchucks (#9030)
- Place your cage trap 3 to 5 feet away, and off to one side from an active burrow entrance or where you often see the woodchucks grazing. With the right trap location, woodchucks can be quickly caught.
- Put on the enclosed plastic gloves. Open tube #1 (Trailing Scent) and squeeze a straight line of drops approximately 6 inches apart starting from the trap opening to a distance about 5 feet away toward the active burrow or feeding area. If any Trailing Scent remains, apply the remainder of the scent back toward the trap opening. To boost the attraction, sprinkle sliced apples or peaches from the trap opening out 3 feet along the trail.
- Before opening tube #2 (Bait) gently knead the bait tube between your fingers for a few seconds. When well blended, open and squeeze the contents of the bait tube onto quartered apples, broccoli or leafy greens to make this food bait more appealing to the animal.
- Place one half of this bait in front of the trip pan and the other half of bait in the back of the trap behind the trip pan. Coat the white felt "lure strip" with the bait. Then hang the strip through the trap top so it straddles the wire and looks like an upside down "U". Place the felt strip above the bait at the back of the trap. This hanging lure strip will draw the animals from a greater distance and improve your success. If using a double entrance trap, close one end and place the bait behind the closed door.
